Mary Kay

I decided recently to start up my Mary Kay business again. I tried this once before when Kris and I moved to Delaware and I wasnt very sucessful. I'm pretty shy at times and I dont like to talk to strangers. I think of my business as more of a hobby at the moment. I know all of the things I did wrong last time and I dont plan on making the same mistakes.
With any business I think it is important to start out slow and build up a customer base first. Friends, family, co-workers, people at church or school. I find that if I just let them know I started a Mary Kay Business and give them a sample or two with my business card, they will come find me when they are ready. I dont push skin care classes even though I do think they are important. One on one facials, online orders and re-orders are just as important.
I have read a lot of negative blogs and such about Mary Kay. I understand where those people are coming from. I chose to think about it differently. Maybe its because I have a career outside of Mary Kay and I am not looking to get rich off of the company. (Not yet anyway).
I'm not the type of consulant who is going to keep a stock or inventory of products. If a customer trys someone and wants to order it, thats fine, but they will have to wait for it. Just like when you order something from a store online. My sales director keeps a whole room of inventory. If I really need something in a hurry, I can contact her for the product.
I have only been a consulant for a week so far. I have sent out new business emails. Scheduled product promotion emails, and set up a facial for next week. I also posted a flyer at work and put a catalog on the table in the waiting room. I think that is a pretty good start.

Moody

I have been increasingly moody with this pregnancy. I know that the hormones associated with being pregnant have a lot to do with it, but it seems so much worse than I expected.

I get annoyed with people at work so easily. I can feel myself rolling my eyes at them and I haven't found a way to stop. I'm sure they think I am being a total bitch.

Maternity Clothes

The clothes I purchased from Ebay arrived yesterday. I am very pleased. I washed everything last night and wore one of the shirts today. I didn't try everything on, but it all looks like it will fit good. Now I need to hunt for some deals for work pants. :)

Wonderful Weather and a sick kid.

This weekend was so gorgeous. It was 90 degrees Saturday and Sunday. Poor Aaron woke up with a stomach virus Saturday morning. He missed his Den Hike and Picnic Saturday and missed Sunday School. He missed playing outside in great weather. (And missed getting a brand new bike I was going to buy him this weekend).

Hopefully he feels better to go to school on Monday.

National Take Your Child to Work Day

So, today is National Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day. http://www.daughtersandsonstowork.org/wmspage.cfm?parm1=485

Aaron came home yesterday telling me that his teachers in SACC (School Age Child Care-After School Program) told him that he didn't have to go to school today and that he was supposed to go to work with a parent. At first I laughed at him. But then I looked it up and sure enough today is the day to bring your kids to work.

After discussing this with Kris I decided it was okay for me to bring Aaron to work with me today. I should mention that whenever school is closed for Federal/State Holidays or whenever there is inclement weather, Aaron comes to work with me. I was told when I first started working here that it was okay to bring your kid to work when you need to.

Well my boss threw a fit this morning. I was told that I was not being fair to him by bringing my son to work with me. Of course I was completely taken back by this. I mean he is the one who told me I was allowed to bring my child to work with me. Apparently, bringing your child to work with you on the actual "Bring your child to work day" is not acceptable in my office. I was told it is okay when school is closed or my child is sick, but when school is open it is not acceptable.

Hmmm.... somehow I feel this is a stab at my parenting.

Maternity Clothes on Ebay

Lately I have become completely addicted to looking for and bidding on maternity clothes on Ebay. I mean lets face it, who really wants to pay full retail price for clothes you only wear for a few months. I certainly don't. I would rather scope out some deals.

The first lot of clothes I bid on was really nice. All brand new with tags. About 20 items. I was willing to pay $100.00. Well in the end I was outbid and the auction wound up selling for $153.00. It was probably worth $153.00 but hey I'm looking for cheap.

The next lot of clothes was all summer clothes. Five pairs of shorts and Five Shirts. These clothes were not brand new. I was willing to spend about $40.00 on this auction. The auction ended at $42.00 and I won. Yay! Lets hope when my clothes get here they are in "gently worn" condition as advertised.

Boppy Total Body Pregnancy Support Pillow

It seems like ever since I found out I was pregnant, I haven't been able to stay asleep all night due to discomfort. I just cannot find a comfortable position to sleep in. I find myself waking up a lot and tossing and turning to find a comfortable spot.

My sister in law Amy suggested that I get this special pillow called Snoogle. I went to Babies r us, and this pillow was $60.00 so I didn't buy it there hoping I could find it cheaper on Ebay or something. Ebay wasn't really any better with the price. They had some "buy it now" auctions for $45.99 but then the shipping was $15.00 so it figured out to be the same price. I did some searching around at different stores like Walmart and Target. Target had the Boppy Total Body Pregnancy Support pillow for $50.00. I decided to just go ahead and get it.

Unfortunately I don't have the Snoogle to actually compare it to, but I think it was a waste of money. It is two funky shaped pillows put together and does not offer much support in my opinion. I find myself getting tangled up in this pillow and wind up tossing it to the side of the bed or on the floor.

I'm not sure if I should attempt to sell this pillow on Ebay and buy the Snoogle or just deal with it.

Fall Semester

I'm trying to decide what to do about the Fall Semester this year. Since the baby is due in early November I don't want to overload myself with classes that I won't be able to keep up with.

In the previous semesters I have taken 6 credits (2 classes). One class is usually every other Saturday morning and one class meets once a week in the evening.

I was thinking that if I could take one every other weekend class I should be able to handle the workload and class meetings. Or I could take an online class (which are hard to find on the list of available classes). I really don't want to take the semester off because I'm afraid I won't go back in the Spring.

I emailed my advisor at the school three times already and she still hasn't responded. I guess I still have a little bit of time to decide.

New Baby-New Blog

I decided that with my recent pregnancy I should start blogging again. Yay! Lets hope I can keep it up.
